My theory is The State wants a lesser charge to stick to you if you refuse to perform the test down at the station. While driving while impaired can get you 60 days in jail and 8 points against your license, a DUI can get you a year in jail and 12 points against your license.
A DWI charge might not have as many penalties as a DUI charge, but that doesn’t mean it’s not serious. At Drew Cochran, Attorney at Law, we fight for our clients’ futures no matter what charges they’re facing.
